diy full moon tea recipe for grounding + intuition

if you know anything about me, it’s that i love moon magic and plants. while i am on my jounrey to understanding herbal remedies, and i have been tinkering with making my own tea blends.

this is one of my FAVORITE blends. not only it the color and taste lovely, it heightens the effects of the full moon! i chose these herbs specifically to compliment the energy of this moon phase.

call it a placebo or whatever, but i truly do believe in the power of the moon. the moon has inspired legends for ages, and is my favorite character from avatar (yue deserved more than four episodes, smh). if the moon can influence tides, i absolutely think it can shift things in out bodies. but to each their own!

if nothing else, this tea is delicious and a good calming night drink!

what is full moon tea?

full moon tea is a specific blend of herbs that you drink around the full moon to enhance the feelings you may have during this phase.

i made this tea blend with two things in mind: grounding and intuition. many people feel scattered during this moon phase because the energy is so potent. along with feeling the high energy, you may have a heightened intuitive sense. this tea will bring you down to earth while still being able to tap into the magic.

what is in full moon tea?

as stated above, i chose ingredients that have grounding qualities as well as intuitive heighteners. take a peek at the herbal uses of the ingredients!

  • chamomile. if you’ve drank tea, you’ve probably drank chamomile before. it reigns supreme as the grounding, relaxing go-to herb for nighttime. i chose it here because of how potent the grounding effects are, as well as the mild floral taste.

  • rose. roses are a symbol of love, but they are often used in divination practices. roses open the heart chakra, which is an essential part of listening to your intuition.

  • hibiscus. oooo, another magic love flower! hibiscus makes this tea a beautiful pink color, but can also heighten your dream states and other intuitive energies. this is great to consume before bed if you want to have powerful, prophetic dreams.

  • lemon zest. when i think of clean and clear, i think of lemon. lemon zest is not only full of sweet citrus flavor, but can help clear out stagnant energy and get chi flowing.

the recipe

all measurements are for whole flowers or petals. if using ground herbs, halve the recipe.

  • 1 tablespoon chamomile flowers

  • 1 tablespoon rose petals

  • 1/2 tablespoon hibiscus petals

  • zest of 1/4 of a lemon

traditional preparation of full moon tea

traditional full moon tea is made by placing all ingredients into a mason jar, then placing it outside or in a windowsill overnight. it will steep, as well as absorb the energy from the full moon.

i like to set my tea out the night before the full moon hits its peak. the full moon energy is still potent 2 days before and after the actual full moon. this way, the tea will still absorb the moon energy and you can drink it during the fullest part of the full moon. how many times can i say full in this blog post? jeez.

fast preparation of full moon tea

this tea can be brewed like any other tea without losing the herbal benefits. just place all the ingredients in a reusable tea bag and steep in hot water for 8-10 minutes. it will be bright pink.
